IJF PRESIDENT MEETS WITH AFRICAN FEDERATION PRESIDENTS

On the 17th April 2013, Mr. Marius Vizer, President of the International Judo Federation, met with the Presidents of African Federations to discuss the way forward for the African Judo Union, in Maputo, Mozambique.
The meeting focused on how to improve aspects of African Judo whilst emphasizing the importance of unity of the Continent in order to achieve overall better results, not only on the tatami, but Federation, Coach, Referee and player management. Mr Vizer said “the engine of any sport is a strong federation, with a strong base structure. National Federations, together with the African Judo Union and the International Judo Federation will deliver according to the Olympic movement in all aspects.”
Mr. Vizer also announced his candidature for the President on the Sport Accord, stating that Judo will still be his first priority, but felt that he could add value to the organisation and push National Federations forward together with their values and the values of judo. Should he be successful in his candidature and become President he will base his Presidency on the base of Sport, which is the children as nobody take enough care of the base, that ever sport needs.
